Bittern Sightings
Have you seen or heard a bittern recently? Then let us know and we will add your record to the list.
It is important to know:
a) where bitterns are turning up in the winter. Fledglings leave the area where they were born and look for somewhere else to spend the winter. Their survival depends on finding a suitable site with plenty of fish.
b) where bitterns are booming in the spring and early summer. This means that a site might be suitable for breeding birds.
